Who could have guessed that a global pandemic would take over 7.5 billion people in less than two months? Loved ones and strangers from all over the world have united in a roller coaster of emotions. Through fear, sadness, and worry, each one of us now has something in common with every living human on the planet. As I make banana bread with my black bananas, my guess is that everyone has become more conscious of food consumption, and reusing and reducing the amount of waste that they produce. My hope is that the human race comes out of this disaster kinder than before, both to each other and to our planet. As we stay in our homes hoping to minimize the spread, the nervous, anxious energy that every person has is being projected inside the walls of your home. It soaks into the furniture that you sit on and infiltrates the air that you breathe. Children arenât at school, people are losing jobs, and those that can work, have to manage it in an entirely new way. Stress has been slowly consuming us for months and it is having adverse affects on our bodies. In a time when we want to pump up our immune systems, the last thing we want to do is suppress them and that is what stress does. So what can we do?
We can consciously breathe. You think this is a no brainer but in times of stress, most of us hold our breath without knowing it. Lower levels of oxygen compile more stress on our overly stressed bodies, which gets us nowhere. https://www.therapistaid.com/therapy-video/deep-breathing-exercise This is a link for a three-minute video that the whole family can watch. Deep breathing for just 10 minutes can reduce stress levels and bring you back to the present. We can only do what we can. Instead of dwelling on what you donât have, try to be grateful for what you do have⌠and breathe while doing it.

We can remove negative energy that we cultivated within our homes. White sage has been used for thousands of years as a way to cleanse, purify and protect against negativity. Smudging is a term used when sage is burned and the smoke is distributed throughout your space. The smoke is strong so those that are sensitive can find our smokeless spray called SMUDGE, which uses an extract of the sage plant along with essential oils of Palo Santo and Lavender. This enables anyone to spray their space, body and others to rid negative energy and bring balance back. Children feel empowered when you give them the means to care for themselves. My son is constantly spraying his space with SMUDGE anytime he doesnât feel right.

Constant screen time exposes us to more blue light, which has been found to suppress the release of melatonin, a sleep-promoting hormone, as well as increasing brain activity. The news also floods our minds with information that can disrupt our sleep.

As we navigate through this unchartered territory we must lean on our loved ones, neighbors and yes, even strangers. Now is the time to demonstrate compassion, empathy and kindness. Now is the time to become a better person, to rise above daily stress and be considerate to others. Smile at the woman who is slowly walking across the crosswalk and wave at the neighbor that you havenât met. It doesnât cost anything, yet it makes people feel good. Right now, we all need to feel better and we can start by being kind to everyone that we come in contact with.
Mindful Mixtures has been working alongside Vickie Emanuel, Energy Healer, Intuitive, and Medium, private labeling her creative product line. She channels the essential oils needed for given situations and we formulate them into products that can be used to help ground, protect, balance and restore. To see her incredible line of products, please visit www.vickiemanuele.com. She has even created a special product for our current situation called âFearlessâ. Our partnership is one I am truly grateful, for it has been refreshing to witness someone so in tune with the world around us. I have been able to use my background as an aromatherapist and herbalist and take it to the next level of healing. I hope you all take this unsettling time to reset yourselves. Make this an opportunity to become a better person than you were before. Model the behavior you want your children to use and take care of your neighbors. Remember, we are all in this together!
Stay safe and be well!
