Whether you have children or not, it is a fact that women tend to put their needs last; itâs just how we are wired. When we take time for ourselves, the effects ripple out to everyone we encounter. If you are a mother, staying grounded, present and in control of your emotions is a must! Motherhood is wonderful but to get the most out of it, making time to do things you love will keep you sane and happy.

Our mental state plays a direct role on our physical bodies. If we are stressed, worried and overworked, science has proven that it wreaks havoc on our heart. Now throw in poor diet, lack of sleep and little exercise and you just turned into a ticking time bomb! Here are some ideas that wonât break the bank.
Â
1.   Get outside â walking barefoot in the grass, sand or dirt literally grounds you by picking up free ions from the Earth's surface. These act like antioxidants for your body, which can boost your immune system and your mood at the same time.
2.   Soak in the tub â Add Magnesium or EpsomSalts to relax your muscles as it gets into the bloodstream via the skin. If you donât have a tub, soak your feet!
3.   Do something that will make you smile âwhether it be chatting to a friend, getting a massage, reading a book, or watching a show, the time you make for yourself is an investment your whole family can enjoy.

There are many essential oils and herbs that can be used to spread some love inside the body and out. Here are some of my favorite oils:
Â
1.   For enhancing beauty â Rose, Jasmine andNeroli. These are all intoxicating flowers that when used on the skin, makes us feel beautiful.
2.   For calming the mind â Bergamot, Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood. Science tells us these three oils reduce anxiety, uplift the spirit, and slow a racing mind.
Â
To send some love internally, I recommend the following herbs:
Â
1.   Motherwort â It comforts in time of grief and soothes the heart. This herb is also known to help with both menstrual and menopausal symptoms.
2.   Fenugreek â This herb supports optimal production of breast milk and maintains healthy blood sugar levels.
3.   Valerian Root â One of my favorites as it works well for anxiety and depression, enhances sleep, and relaxes the nervous system.
Â
Making tea is an ancient ritual that can be used as a 10 minute break throughout the day. Sipping on something warm soothes the soul and when you use medicinal herbs you kill two birds by taking some time for yourself and supplementing your body with goodness.
Â
So instead of being last in line, maybe think about bumping up to the middle âbaby steps!
Â
Take good care,
